Loosing it (or: the soft killer of identity), oil on canvas, 50x60cm
Hi, my name is Dick Tulp.
I am a professional painter and sculptor. Studying my great examples, I follow my own path in traditional painting and sculpting, searching for the surprising and uplifting power of beauty, in which I strongly believe. Portraits have my special liking and I enjoy the challenge every commission brings along.
Painters I deeply admire and study as much as I can are Diego Velasquez, Frans Hals and John Singer Sargent. And there is Andrew James, a contemporary British portrait painter I have found, whom I specially admire because of his colorful, expressive, nothing concealing and yet conscientious and respectful way of portrait painting.
My favorite sculptor is no doubt Auguste Rodin.
